Cuba’s fishing is as good as its cigars!
The island of Cayo Largo lies in a huge flats area that averages just 6 feet, ideal for casting a fly, and its channels are loaded with Snapper, Grouper, Jack, Snook and Barracuda of more than 30 lbs.
The area was a favourite haunt of Ernest Hemingway, and was where he met the local angler who inspired The Old Man & The Sea.
As at February 2009, a two-week break with Captivating Cuba costs from £1,250 pp, including 14 nights’ all-inclusive in four-star hotels (11 in Cayo Largo, three in Havana), transfers and return flights from Gatwick.
